What Phoebe collects, what it doesn't, and what happens to it.
Phoebe is a free, read-only publication. There are no accounts, no logins, no signup forms, and no cookies. The site does not track you across the web, does not sell or share data with advertisers, and does not run third-party advertising scripts. If you email hello@phoebereads.com, that email is the only personal information Phoebe has about you.
Two things, both narrow:
Aggregate analytics. Phoebe uses Cloudflare Web Analytics in cookieless mode. Cloudflare collects standard request metadata — page visited, approximate country derived from IP at request time, referrer, browser type — and aggregates it into anonymous counts. No cookies are set. No persistent identifier is stored in your browser. IP addresses are not retained in the analytics product. The publisher uses these aggregate counts to understand how many people visit which pages.
Email correspondence. If you choose to email hello@phoebereads.com, your email address and the content of your message are received and stored in the publisher's mailbox, hosted by Apple's iCloud+ Custom Email Domain service. The publisher reads these messages and may reply.
Aggregate analytics are used to gauge traffic patterns and inform editorial decisions about which surfaces are read. They are not used to identify individuals, build profiles, or retarget readers.
Email correspondence is used to reply to your message. Phoebe does not add you to a mailing list when you write in. Phoebe does not share, sell, or rent email addresses or message contents to anyone.
Three services touch your visit:
Phoebe has no control over the privacy practices of these third parties beyond the configuration options they expose, all of which have been set to the most privacy-protective option available (cookieless analytics, no advertising, no third-party sharing).
The site's robots.txt and HTTP headers signal that automated systems should not use Phoebe's content for training generative AI models. Phoebe does not consent to AI training scraping. This is a request — it is not enforceable against every crawler — but the signal is set.
Phoebe is operated from the United States. If you are reading from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, California, or another jurisdiction with a comprehensive privacy regime, the following applies:
The lawful basis for the limited processing described above is the publisher's legitimate interest in operating a small, non-commercial publication, balanced against the minimal data collected and the absence of profiling, automated decision-making, or third-party sharing.
You have the right to request access to any personal data the publisher holds about you (in practice, this is limited to email correspondence you have sent in), request correction or deletion of that data, object to processing, and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@phoebereads.com with the subject line "Privacy request." Phoebe will respond within 30 days.
Phoebe does not sell personal information and has no financial incentive offers to disclose under CCPA.
Phoebe is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK) and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent personal information to Phoebe, email hello@phoebereads.com and it will be deleted.
The site is served over HTTPS. Email transits under standard SMTP TLS where supported by sending and receiving servers. No system is fully secure; readers should not include sensitive personal or financial information in email correspondence.
If material aspects of what Phoebe collects change — for example, if a paywall is introduced and payment information becomes part of the picture — this policy will be updated and the effective date below will be revised. The most current version is the version published on this page.
Privacy questions, requests, or complaints: hello@phoebereads.com.
Effective May 21, 2026.
